consultations for families
specialist consultations, systemic therapy and video work for parents and families
Per:spectrum family consultations cater for parents and other family members, involved caregivers and important attachment figures who are looking for help with aspects of daily life with their young child on the autism spectrum.
We often work with topics such as:
regulation, emotions, joint play, stereotypical or repetitive behaviour,
eating and sleeping problems, auto-aggression and aggression towards others,
sibling-relationships or toilet training.
Video work for parents:
Be an expert in your own situation. On request, we can observe the interaction of child and caregiver in short videos of everyday situations, for instance focussing on eating together or play interactions. We aim to understand the significance and inherent meaning of recurring communication patterns and behaviours. With the help of these video sequences, we work out which specific developmental tasks your child is currently tackling and discuss what is needed in order to effectively accompany them.
practical aspects
- In an initial conversation via Zoom or telephone, we find out where the main focus of your question lies and whether you might like to work together with me.
- We then determine an initial number of online counselling sessions and decide which participants will be involved.
- If needed, a more intensive collaboration with video-based consultations can be booked to take a more in-depth look at a situation and develop appropriate interventions.
